Interior design in Zimbabwe is very slowly becoming an important aspect for people who are buying or selling their property. For instance, it is relatively simple to create an impressive looking interior if you are planning on selling your home. This in turn makes it easier for a real estate agent to sell your house for a good price (of course this should be done smart – as it can end up an expense if not planned properly).
So what is Interior design exactly? It’s the design of aspects of environmental psychology, architecture and product design. Interior design is the creative science that improves the interior of a structure (house, home or even office) using decor.
For example, in Zimbabwe, it’s not uncommon to have an African feel in your dining room – created by paintings, sculptures, earth colours and various African or Zimbabwean artifacts. This represents one of so many different styles you can go for in the interior design of your home. The designer is limited only by the imagination, willingness, and your pocket.
Interior design can also be an important part of your business strategy. Presenting an impressive image to your clients and even employees will often translate into credibility, price and general appeal. Consider how much Zimbabwean banking (financial) institutions put into looking just right.
Restaurants also use specialized interior designers in order to draw the customer in and make them think they are hungry. Often Restaurants require interior designers to help them communicate the theme of the brand. Consider the differences between St Elmos, Spurs and The Great Wall. All are very thematically strong – this is the work of a professional interior décor specialist.
Aside from the look of the place, Interior design can also be used to make life easier for the elderly and the disabled by incorporating user-friendly aspects into the home or environment.
Interior design elements can be drawn from anywhere and anything. Some choose choose an interior design based on region (Zimbabwean Homes, Italian Kitchen etc), religion (eg. Zimbabwean Cathedral), or simply on their personal taste.
There are many benefits to working with a pro interior designer, but if you cant afford one…get creative. You’ll be surprised by how much a little creativity can accomplish for your house & home.
